Rules & Regulations Spotlight: Apartment Exterior
Leaving Items on Porches and Railings & Fire Code.
King & Queen Apartments is located in the City of Williamsburg’s Historic Preservation District. As such, it is imperative that the property be kept up and free of trash, debris and unsightly items in front of apartment exterior, or on the porches or landings. Towels, rugs or other items are not to be hung on the railings, or shaken out on the porches or landings. If you need to hang a towel or rug to dry, please hang it over the shower curtain rod in the bathroom.
Additionally, leaving furniture or other items on the porches and landings in front of the apartment exterior, as well as, securing bicycles to the poles or railings are fire code violations and fire hazards.
The following is noted in the Rules & Regulations portion of the Lease Agreement:

- Tenant shall not shake or clean dust mops, clothing, tablecloths, rugs, vacuum bags or similar items from the windows, porches or landing areas.
- Per Section 110, Unsafe Conditions, of the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code, the means of egress, the stairways, porches and landings must remain clear and unobstructed. Obstructing these means of egress is not permitted. Bicycles, trash, furniture, boxes, or other items may not be placed on porches, landings or stairwells at any time.
